parenting coordination
Parenting coordination is a non-adversarial dispute resolution process that is court ordered or agreed upon by the parties. The purpose of parenting coordination is to provide a child-focused process in which a parenting coordinator assists parents in creating or implementing a parenting plan by facilitating the resolution of disputes between the parents by providing education, making recommendations and, with the prior approval of the parents and the court, making limited decisions within the scope of the court’s order of referral.
Hillsborough County has been a leader in the implementation of Parenting Coordination as an alternative dispute resolution tool in Florida, and I have been involved in PC work since the very beginning. I have served as Parenting Coordinator in over sixty 13th, 6th, and 5th Circuit cases over the past 15+ years.

In addition, I served for many years on the board of directors of FLAFCC (the Florida Chapter of the Association for Family and Conciliation Courts), an organization relied upon heavily for legislative development, research, and training in all aspects of alternative dispute resolution in Florida family law court systems. I have conducted trainings on Parenting Coordination for judges, attorneys and mental health professionals on the local, state and national levels. Finally, I am a member of a statewide Parenting Coordination working and support group, bringing together parenting coordinators to learn together, as well as to impact the legislative process in the evolution and development of the field.
